Travel to or remain in Australia to receive medical treatment or attend consultations.
The Medical Treatment visa (subclass 602) allows you to travel to or remain in Australia to receive medical treatment or attend medical consultations. You may also apply if you are supporting someone who needs medical care or donating an organ.
This temporary visa can be applied for inside or outside Australia and helps you stay lawfully in the country while accessing or assisting with treatment. In some cases, it may also apply to older individuals who have been refused a permanent visa on health grounds but are medically unfit to leave Australia.
Undergo medical procedures or attend consultations.
Support a family member or person needing medical care.
Donate an organ or receive an organ donation.
For those medically unfit to leave Australia.
The visa does not generally allow you to work and does not lead to permanent residency. It is important to remain lawful during your stay in Australia. If your visa expires or you apply too late, you may become unlawful, which can affect your ability to apply for future visas.
The visa is generally granted for the duration of your treatment plan.
The visa may be issued for single or multiple entries, and conditions usually include no work rights and permission to study for up to three months.
